The exhibition of a New Kind, at Mboro High School, as if you were there.

Untitled.jpg

The objective of Fatoumata Sissi Ngom, curator of this exhibition, was to decentralize access to art in a rural area, convey caring and positively oriented messages, and raise awareness. It was also about offering an alternative to the physically impressive cultural buildings in big cities.

How can art and music give meaning to our missions and life purpose ?

What is the true meaning of the restitution of works of art and how to escape from someone else's dream ?

These were the questions addressed during the artistic and musical exhibition which took place at Mboro high school.

Meeting of spirits

A modern, multi-faceted exhibition combining painting, prints, digital content and music.

It was an expression of the power of imagination and local creativity.

The art and music exhibition was a highlight. SnoopChrist, our star painter, painted several pictures about planet earth, women and Cheikh Anta Diop. Dread Max inspired the audience with his journey and commitment to raising awareness and the environment. He also treated them to unforgettable a cappella performances of his best-known songs.  Fatoumata Sissi Ngom exhibited a painting of the Pangool totem, adapted from her novel Le silence du totem.

Fatoumata Sissi Ngom urged students at the Lycée de Mboro to distance themselves from people's ideological dreams when discussing the restitution of african artefacts and postcolonial debates in general.

Rif Slam was also with us through his strong slam for the planet, “Forgive me”, which was adapted into a painting by SnoopChrist.

The young schoolboy Babacar Sow, an aspiring artist, made paintings on gender inequalities.

Bongoman, so funny, came to add the rhythmic touch with their instrument.

We danced, we sang, we laughed

Another beautiful memory is the day before the event. SnoopChrist, Ndiaga, Ayoba, and the middle school students from the Mboro Eco-citizen association, along with Fatoumata, stayed late in the exhibition hall to unpack the paintings, hang them up, and tidying up.  Unforgettable !

The program. And the artists.

When music is good !

Pardonne-moi RIFRif

"Pardonne-moi" (“Forgive me”) was chosen by Fatoumata Sissi Ngom for its metaphorical power. For the purposes of the exhibition, Pardonne-moi was also adapted into an art painting by SnoopChrist.

In this musical slam, Rif Slam addresses Planet Earth as a woman: the time for settling scores has come. Patriarchal societies, gender inequalities, toxic masculinity, destruction of the planet and centuries-old extraction of women's energy, women guilty silence and fear: what if everything was linked?

Use sa brain - Dread MaxDread Max
00:00 / 04:02

"Use sa brain" is a call for intellectual sovereignty. On this song, Dread Max calls for discernment and the cultivation of a healthy relationship with others and the Divine, and raises awareness of the unalterable power that resides in each of us: critical and sovereign thinking. He also warns of the brevity of life and the importance of doing the right thing throughout our lives.
